Top Tips & Picks for Better Sleep Tonight!
Hi Friend,
If you’ve ever tossed and turned at night, wondering why sleep feels harder after 50, you’re not alone. Between hormonal shifts, stress, and busy schedules, quality sleep can feel like a luxury. But here’s the truth: good sleep is non-negotiable if you want to lose stubborn weight, maximize recovery, boost energy, and support healthy skin.
That’s why I’m sharing 3 Science-backed habits and my 5 favorite sleep must-haves!
🌙 3 Habits That Help You Sleep Better After 50
1️⃣ Lights out by 11
Your body does its best repair work before midnight. Between 11 p.m.–2 a.m., your natural production of human growth hormone (HGH) peaks — helping preserve muscle, burn fat, and restore energy. The earlier you tuck in, the more of those benefits you capture.
2️⃣ Keep blood sugar steady
Big spikes (like pasta dinners or late-night sweets) can lead to 2 a.m. wake-ups. Balanced meals with protein, fiber, and healthy fat keep blood sugar — and sleep — steady through the night.
3️⃣ Create a simple wind-down
A consistent evening routine tells your body it’s safe to switch gears. Think low lights, a cup of nighttime tea, light reading, or even gentle stretches. The habit matters more than the exact ritual — it signals your brain that it’s time for deep rest.
4️⃣ Cool Your Body for Deeper Sleep
Lowering core temperature improves restorative sleep. Try a warm bath or shower that gradually turns cool 60–90 minutes before bed; the post-bath drop in body temperature triggers sleepiness. For night sweats, keep the bedroom cool and breathable fabrics on your bed to stay comfortable all night.
Here are 4 of my favorites that help me sleep better after 50 so I can wake up refreshed and maintain my energy throughout the day.
⭐ 1. The Lad Collective Sheets
These bamboo-cotton blend sheets are dreamy, soft, breathable (goodbye night sweats!), and cleverly designed with loops, hidden zipper pillowcases, and a joey pouch for easy storage. It even comes with a sleep mask made of the same high-quality bamboo cotton blend. Sleep quality improves when you stay cool — research shows cooler temps support deeper, restorative slow-wave sleep.

Not only do these masks feel luxurious, but darkness helps regulate melatonin (your sleep hormone). The silk is also gentle on skin, protecting against creases and breakouts. Fun fact: studies show even dim light exposure at night can disrupt sleep quality and blood sugar control — so blocking it out makes a big difference.
⭐ 3. Mouth Tape (yes, really!)
It might sound odd, but taping your mouth gently at night helps encourage nasal breathing. Why does that matter? Nasal breathing improves oxygen uptake, lowers stress hormones, and reduces snoring. Evidence shows mouth taping may even reduce sleep-disordered breathing and help you wake up feeling more refreshed.
⭐ 4. DFH Magnesium Glycinate
Magnesium is called the “relaxation mineral” for a reason. Magnesium glycinate, in particular, is highly absorbable and shown to calm the nervous system, improve sleep quality, and even reduce nighttime muscle cramps. Many women over 50 are deficient; supplementing can make a noticeable difference.
✨ Bottom line: Improving your sleep isn’t about perfection — it’s about small, smart upgrades that help your body do what it’s designed to do: restore, repair, and recharge.
